
Fish Invest Ltd. grows sturgeon fish in the cage base in Ogosta Reservoir. The main purpose of sturgeon farming is breeding of new generations of sturgeon fish for sale of black caviar. In the farm are grown Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii), Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii), hybrid between the Russian and Siberian sturgeon, and sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus). In the process of forming a herd of female fish for production of black caviar, the male specimens are removed from the main base during the early stages of development and are grown as sturgeon for consumption. The offered fish has an exceptional meat quality weighing between 3 kg – 7 kg. The expected biomass in the farm by 2019 should be about 500 tons of sturgeon of all species.
